30 Days of Gratitude Day: 23

SugarBabe Keely shares her gratitude for a favorite gadget.

I’m grateful for a lot in my life, and while I like to think I’m not too caught up with needing things, I have a few objects that I don’t want to live without. My Kindle is very high on that list. I love, love, love it. I try to spin it as a reminder to never say never as I was sure that I’d never want or need one. I’ve been an avid reader my entire life. I suck up words and imagery as if they were nourishment. I was sure that a gadget just couldn’t take the place of holding a book, feeling the pages, appreciating the fonts, the smell. I was wrong. I was so wrong that now I’m pretty bummed when I have to actually read a physical book. Don’t get me wrong, I still have real books, ones that are precious to me or the coffee table books that are filled with art. But for reading, I’m all about the e-reader.

I’m grateful for my Kindle because I can take it anywhere and I don’t have to find a place for all the books I read. I love the e-ink, I can read at the pool in the sunshine or in the dark and my eyes don’t get tired like they do reading on a computer or tablet. I love reading before bed and the light on my Paperwhite is fabulous. I can be in any position and I don’t have to figure out how to hold the book or turn the pages. I love being able to adjust orientation and font size.  It thrills me that there are so many bargains for Kindle, being able to buy a book for a few dollars or free is at least as good or better than buying a paperback, and I can check out library books too.

In short, my Kindle rocks my world.
