Featured Designer FWP – Janet Phillips
Happy Friday friends! It’s a new day, and we’re debuting a new Featured Designer! As you know, over the past year and a bit, we’ve had all of our designers in the spotlight as our featured designers, so we’ve started fresh with a new series of featured designer FWP products that will center around the letters of the alphabet! Janet Phillips is up next with the letter “V”, and she has an amazing kit for us, V is for VOLUME. I don’t know about you, but music is a HUGE part of my life. It’s what I turn to when I need to change my mood or when I need to motivate my kids. Janet has created a fun, loud, colorful kit to celebrate music! Take a look . . .
I asked Janet a few questions about this kit and the process she went through to create it. Here’s what she had to say:

If you could use one word starting with the first letter of your name that describes something about you, what would your word be and why?
I remember being asked this in high school. The word I chose then, and the word I would choose now, is JUXTAPOSED. There is lot of contrast in my life. I can be introverted or extroverted. I can be conservative in some areas and yet liberal in others. I can be playful and silly, but also serene and serious.
What kit are you most proud of creating in the last year? Why?
I really love 12 Months of You. The colors make me happy. The subject matter makes me happy. And I love all the sweet little characters. I’d love to have another baby just so I could use this kit to document his/her first year!
Is there another designer on the team who you find particularly inspiring?
I have loved KCB since my earliest days of scrapping. We were in another store together years ago and I loved her designs, and that hasn’t changed. She is my go-to when I have a page I want to scrap and need to quickly find a kit to go with it. Erica Zane is also a favorite. I love her bright and fun colors and contrast. They just make me happy!
When you aren’t designing digital treats, what do you spend most of your time doing?
Lately, much of time has been spend it courtrooms and classrooms. Two of my children are heavily involved in Mock Trial and I have taken on a coaching role as well. Even right now as I type this, I am sitting in a Federal courthouse in Las Vegas (we’re on lunch break . . . I’d never be on my iPad during court!). Mock trial is a great program, much like speech and debate. Not only do students learn about the law, but also they learn about public speaking, confidence, and poise. Our team has ranked nationally for almost ten years. Here’s hoping for a Victory in Vegas!
