Featured Designer FWP – Red Ivy Design
Happy Friday, friends! There are just a few more days left in 2019. Are you planning a big bash for New Year’s Eve or are you going to keep things simple? Are you excited about 2020? I definitely am—ready to make some small but significant changes. But first . . . today I’m excited to introduce Alice of Red Ivy Designs as our Featured Designer!
As you know, we just kicked off a brand new theme for our Featured Designer freebies, and this year, our designers are going to compile a mix tape for us! Alice has created a gorgeous kit, Feeling Good! Take a look . . .
I asked Alice a few questions about this kit and the process she went through to create it. Here’s what she had to say:
What song did you choose as your inspiration? Why does it speak to or inspire you?
“Feeling Good” sung by Michael Buble is the song I chose as the theme for this kit. It has such a fun and entertaining feel, and I so love how the music grows to a crescendo. This is a song that instantly makes me smile. The message about embracing change told in such a lighthearted way is another thing that makes this song one of my favorites.
How did you decide what direction to take your kit after choosing the song for our mix-tape?
With the New Year (and a new decade!) just around the corner, I thought this song was a perfect fit for a kit. Now is the time for new plans, new resolutions, and generally for being open to changes really. I am a firm believer that the best is yet to come and I hope this kit will inspire you to believe the same.
I also asked Alice a few more questions about herself, her love for this hobby of ours, and some of her favorite layouts or products:
When you aren’t designing digital treats, what do you spend most of your time doing?
My life is super busy. In addition to raising my two daughters, I spend a lot of time reading as I am in my final year studying Psychology (which is a second degree).
Also, this summer I decided to try something completely new for me. It was a spur of the moment thing and I had no idea where it would take me. In short, I started to paint large knife paintings in both oil and acrylics, and I have to say I love it! It takes all of my spare time! Here are two of my paintings:
What kit are you most proud of creating in the last year? Why?
Well, this is a tough one, because my favorite kit is usually the last one I’ve made. However, if I had to choose just one, I think “Never Too Late” would be at the top of the list, not only for the soft colors, but also for the message that is very dear to my heart: it’s never too late to grow, to evolve, to take that class, to learn something you’ve been postponing, or even to fulfill your childhood dreams.
What is the last book you read? Did you love, hate it, or was it just meh?
The book I’m reading right now is called “Women Who Run With the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estés and I am in awe at how clever and insightful this author is. I had never heard of her before, but right now I think this is a must read for women in general. It includes many stories and you may not resonate with all of them (it probably depends on what stage of life you are in), but once you find the one you resonate with, you will find it very empowering. Highly recommend!
