Scraplift Sunday – 6/7

For this month’s scraplift challenge, we are looking to one of our long time community members for inspiration.  Let’s welcome the lovely and talented Amie (username AmieN1)!

If you take a look at Amie’s gallery, we think you’ll get a sense of the joy she has in creating and making memories with her family.  And it’s won’t take you long to see one of the things we love most about her scrap style… her absolutely AMAZING clusters and shadows.  She was willing to answer some questions for us, so before we get to the challenge, let’s get to know Amie a little better.

Tell us a little about yourself.

“I’m a craft-loving dental hygienist who lives in (eastern: read not rainy) Washington state.  I love my husband, my two crazy kids (9 & 12), and my two English Bulldogs (6 & 4 months)… as well as coffee, baking cupcakes, daffodils, glitter & sprinkles, reading/listening to a good book, and lip gloss — not necessarily in that order.”

How long have you been scrapbooking? What got you started and what has made you continue?

“I have been a scrapbooker since I was young- on all my school field trips I would collect postcards & other ephemera to put in the old sticky gross photo albums.  My mom was also the same- I have albums from my birth – teens full of pictures & random cards, hospital bracelet, etc.  In college, I even made my big dental hygiene project into a scrapbook-type style!  After I graduated in 2004, I got HEAVY into traditional paper scrapbooking.  Then in 2009, when my daughter was about to turn 1 year old- I found some cute custom digital invites on etsy.  Immediately I thought- I could TOTALLY make those!  Somehow PSE (7 I think!?) had come preloaded on our home desktop- I then fell into the deep dark hole of digiscrapping & collecting ALL THE FREEBIES!  Over the years, I’ve become more picky about what freebies I collect!”

What are some things about your style of scrapping that are important to you?

“My ultimate goal is to capture the memory- so sometimes it’s a photoless layout, other times it’s photo overload!  I also love all the elements & word arts- so most of my layouts have lots of layers & lots of dimension.  I have loved perfecting shadows & lighting as well to make my layouts appear more realistic!”

If you could give one piece of advice to other scrappers, what would it be?

“Also- I’m a big fan of customizing my workspace within Photoshop CC- I make the program work FOR ME so I can work faster.  I make a lot of my own shortcuts & actions for stuff I do frequently.  Speeding up work flow is never a bad thing!”

Now it’s time to see Amie’s inspiration for this month’s challenge.

We’ve selected 6 layouts from her gallery.  You can click on any of them to check them out in detail or leave her some love through a comment.  And if you want to participate in the scraplift challenge for this month (which is one of the options on June’s Passport to Relaxation), you can select any of one of these layouts to lift.  We can’t wait to see how these inspire you!

Some of the Sugar Babes have already taken the scraplift challenge and were inspired to create these layouts.  Just wow!

Thank you so much, Amie, for inspiring our lift this month and taking the time to share a bit about yourself!
