Featured Designer – The Nifty Pixel
It’s Friday! Woohoo!! We have just a few days left in our Sweet 16 Celebration, be sure you come join us if you haven’t been already! Since it’s Friday, it also means it’s time to introduce our next Featured Designer, Emma of The Nifty Pixel!
Keeping with the festive spirit in mind of our big birthday, our designers decided that a year long celebration of everything that makes our lives special would be the perfect way to keep the party going, so Celebrate YOU! is the theme that will be inspiring our Featured Designer freebies this year! From your job, to your school, to your favorite holidays and more, we’re celebrating all of life’s memorable moments this year, and Emma’s kit is adorable! As you all know, we love to interview our lovely designers so that we can all get to know them a little better. Here we go.
What is your favorite thing about YOU? Celebrate yourself and sing your own praises! Is there something you’re really good at, something you’re known for, etc?
Gosh, why is it hard to sing our own praises? I had to ask my boys what they thought and they said that I make them laugh, apparently I’m a goofball and don’t act my age. I think I’m just more comfortable in my own skin as I get older, like Gwen Stefani said, “Act as young as you feel, you’re not getting older; you’re getting more entitled to be your fabulous self.”
What other hobbies do you have?
I looooove to garden, it really helps with grounding me when I’m stressed or when I need clarity around something. We have a small block but we have managed to plant a tropical garden in the short 4 years we’ve had the house. The most rewarding part has been that the vast majority of the plants were for free off Facebook Marketplace or found as clippings on the side of the road waiting for council pick up.
Many have grown new pups so we plan to expand the garden once we move back into our home after the renovation. We have lots of plans for that little slice of heaven, like edible gardens around the Pizza Oven and Fire pit and we have even been talking about a small lap pool, dreaming big there hehe. Here is just one corner of the front yard and shows how much things have grown since we planted it.
Favorite movie of all time?
A bit of a segway from the previous question because I love the movie ‘Saving Grace’. It’s an oldie but goodie and is one of my all time fave movies. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea though, if you’ve seen this movie you’ll pardon that pun! haha

Grace has been left with a manor on the Cornish Coast – and the massive, suffocating mountain of debt her husband had been secretly amassing. Now, with creditors hot on her heels, Grace is faced with the prospect of losing everything. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so when Grace, who has a green thumb, is asked to tend an ailing if illicit plant, she gets an outrageous idea.

Each week I have been spotlighting a NIFTY SCRAPPER I’ve found in my SSD Nifty Pixel Gallery for a chance to select a Nifty product of their choice at the end of the month. There are so many talented scrappers in our community and in all honesty I get a buzz from seeing everyone’s pages in the Nifty gallery. If you’ve seen #tiktoks happy happy dog videos then you can easily imagine how I feel with every page I see!

Julie is a master storyteller especially through her photographs but her choice of textures and combined elements never fail in transporting you into the scene she has created. I can easily imagine the sound of the waves breaking and the gulls flying by as though I’m right there feeling the cooling ocean breeze at dusk.

Lisa has mad skills when it comes to clustering and shadowing, but one of her most awesome abilities is she has a knack at expressing simple but sweet moments in her journaling and photography. I’m a huge fan of candid shots and everyday moments being captured and elevated like this, because these are the very memories we’ll cherish the most.

This collection is one of my favorites, so when I saw Angie’s page and the heartfelt sentiment behind her experience serving in the Military, I was really moved. This is such a poignant moment captured and so beautifully scrapped. With all the gorgeous layers perfectly shadowed and the blending of the overlays in the background, this one was a stand out for me.
