Standout Sunday – 2/13
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Are you an American football fan? A halftime show aficionado? Or perhaps you are a Super Bowl commercial habitué? Personally, I’m more about visiting with friends and munching on all the great party food than I am about the game itself, but that’s because my Dallas Cowboys haven’t been to the Superbowl since the 90’s.
But I digress.
Whether you’re taking a break from party preparation or simply enjoying some uninterrupted time to yourself while the game is on in the other room, I hope you reserve some time for recording memories today. Don’t forget to pick up the camera!
Today is Standout Sunday, which means I get to highlight some of the creativity shared by our community members in the form of their recent layouts posted to our Gallery. I’ve selected five beauties to share with you today, and I seem to be all about contrast this week. So without further ado, here are today’s Sunday Standouts!
Naughty or Nice by snowberry
I love a layout with a great big photo, and when you have a photo like this one? Well, going BIG is the right choice! What a fantastic shot of those sweet dogs – I love the angle, and the framing, and the two sweet dogs who are behaving themselves juxtaposed against the one who is clearly giving its owner a piece of its mind! Pairing this pic with those humorous word art blocks makes this layout a winner for me.
Sweet by nowens
The contrast between those adorable photos and that dark background just make this layout pop! Love the way she framed the landscape photograph using a thick, dimensional frame and sat it atop the unframed photo-and-paper stack. It’s another way of using contrast to create fantastic visual interest.
heart this by keepscrappin
It’s the split photo combined with the high contrast colors that make this layout a standout for me. The photograph spanning two frames allows the artist to create additional levels of depth as she adds more layers to her cluster and tucks items between the photos (like that “heart this” word art). I just adore what you can do with digital scrapbooking and some really great drop shadows, and this is a primo example.
Baby Love by immaculeah
I am so completely in love with this layout! Those photographs are the sweetest EVER – just look at that smile! – and they pair perfectly with the colors in this kit. A primarily blue layout for a sweet baby girl because she’s wearing blue, allowing for the contrast of that pink … it’s just gorgeous. Those are stunning clusters, beautifully shadowed, and that big focal point photograph … ah! Be still my heart!
Shine Bright by Mother Bear
This layout absolutely jumped out of the gallery and grabbed me by the eyeballs! It’s a high-key base, with those black-and-white photos against the whitewashed wood background, so the addition of saturated yellow, blue, and green elements is that much more impactful. The clustering work here is outstanding, with gorgeous shadowing, and I absolutely love the way she layered the two pieces of word art to create such a gorgeous title.
What lovely work from these talented scrapbookers – I am feeling all inspired and ready to create! No matter what your day has in store for you – football and friends or some quiet time to yourself – I hope you take the time today to create something that makes you happy. Have a great Sunday!
