Show-Off & Shout-Out with the SugarBabes – 6/4

“There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.”
– Mandy Hale

Happy Sunday, my sweet friends, and welcome to another edition of Show-Off and Shout-Out with the SugarBabes! By now, you’re probably aware of the “Show Off & Shout Out” component of our monthly challenge system. But just in case you’re new around the Sweet Shoppe, here’s how it works:

You’ll find this month’s Show Off & Shout Out thread in our This or That Challenges forum. Reply to the thread to claim your spot. Throughout the month, update it with

  • links to 15 pages in the Gallery on which you’ve left a comment (we call it “leaving love”),
  • an image of a layout you created this month and posted in the gallery you want to show off,
  • a sentence or two about why you’re proud of the layout you created or why you love it so much,
  • an image of a layout someone else created and posted in the gallery to which you want to give a shout out, and
  • a sentence or two about why their layout inspires you or what you love about it.

That’s all there is to it: leave love for 15 layouts in the gallery, share your Show-Off, and share a Shout-Out, and at the end of the month, you could win a free kit or mini bundle up to $15 in value. Our winners in May were Romajo, Jenn_46, and JillW – congratulations to all three of you!

I asked some of the Sugar Babes to share their Show-Off and Shout-Outs to wrap up the month of May. Here’s what Eve (eve11ne), Cassie (KingsQueen82), Kim (jak), Ally (allyanne), Rebecca (MamaBee), and Krista (norton94) had to say:

Eve’s Show Off

Why Eve is proud of this layout: “I always love messy and all the paints stuff but to use them in a page, I take long time to play with it until they look right. With this page, those seems to fall in place easily and I really like the outcome.”

Eve’s Shout Out

Why Eve loves “Missing You” by JillW: “This journal artsy page is simple yet beautiful, I can feel her feelings through this layout. The flow of the page, guided with butterflies, starts from the bottom clusters to the journaling on top completed with the cloud and raindrops convey the whole feelings of her in this layout.”

Cassie’s Show Off

Why Cassie is proud of this layout: “I really like this page because of how well the kit matches my photos. Not only do the colors match perfectly but I was able to use so many of the adorably themed elements in the kit to compliment the animals on my daughter’s bouncy seat. I also love how full the page is with elements and tons of fun paper layers!”

Cassie’s Shout Out

Why Cassie loves “Eat Good Feel Good” by weaselwatchr: “This page just screams for attention and boy did it get mine! I absolutely love the vividly fresh colors of the photo and how perfectly the kit and photos match! Danica expertly positioned the food elements on her page so it’s hard to tell where the photo ends and the actual scrapping begins! It’s a beautifully curated masterpiece!”

Kim’s Show Off

Why Kim is proud of this layout: “This was actually my layout for the This or That challenges in May. I love to cluster and I went a bit crazy with this one! I also love this photo of my son and I think it works well blended into the background. I also like how his red jacket and cap pop in the photo and are subtly complemented by the reddish flowers in the cluster.”

Kim’s Shout Out

Why Kim loves “Birds of a Feather” by MrsPeel: “The design is amazing! Everything is perfectly placed and balanced. I especially love the two birds and the cluster to the right is gorgeous. The light blue background gives the page a nice airy feel and the clouds perfectly complement the cloud elements. It’s also an amazing photoless layout which is something I need to do better at myself!”

Ally’s Show Off

Why Ally is proud of this layout: “These blended templates of Lorie’s with the giant background photo spots are just so much fun to use! I love how the photo of the greenhouse just works so perfectly in this template, even down to providing journaling space. I also love the hilarious word art from the Crazy Plant Lady kit–it is so perfect for me and the way I feel about my garden and buying goodies for it. And this was a great time with my cousin and I love capturing those times.”

Ally’s Shout Out

Why Ally loves “Wildflowers” by Cinderella: “I think the way Cinderella used the background photo as a blend and in the frame is just stunning. I also love the scattered elements, the word strips and art, and the scatters. This is such a beautiful, whimsical page!”

Rebecca’s Show Off

Why Rebecca is proud of this layout: “When I saw this kit hit the store, I knew exactly what story I wanted to tell. In 2001, I was assigned a 13week business trip to the UK. I had borrowed my step dad’s new digital camera (which saved photos to 3.25in floppy disks!!) and I wanted a creative way to remember this experience. Honestly, I haven’t looked at these scrapbooks since, until my son’s homeschool class was learning about Europe. Seeing these kids go through these scrapbooks renewed my passion for this hobby.”

Rebecca’s Shout Out

Why Rebecca loves “Awfully Sweet” by EllenT: “The tumbling of elements down this page is just amazing… each one is placed perfectly. I love the sweet photo just adds to the whimsy of this page. Every time I look at this page, I see some new element, tucked in expertly between the paper pieces.”

Krista’s Show Off

Why Krista is proud of this layout: “It’s such a feel good moment, so maybe I love it extra for that reason? I love how Cindy’s template allows my photos to shine (but also feels celebratory enough for the big occasion), and also how Meagan’s glitter styles bling out my title work!”

Krista’s Shout Out

Why Krista loves “Chasing Rainbows” by bcgal00: “I love how the masking here created such a brilliant rainbow colored background. I love the inked arches brings my attention to the arched rainbow. Rae is an amazing photographer too, I’m just such a fan!”

It’s been said that “Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” Leaving words of positive feedback for another scrapbooker is such an easy way to spread happiness in our little corner of the online world. Even a simple “So pretty!” or “Beautiful layout!” will make the maker smile. So the next time you’re browsing the Gallery, I hope you’ll take a moment to spread some happiness by leaving love on the layouts you enjoy. Have a great week, Sweet Shoppers!
