Featured Designer – Studio Flergs

Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers!  Are you having as busy a December as it seems everyone has been having?  Not long now until Christmas, and hopefully some great time spent with your loved ones.  Fridays are my favorite, not just because of the weekend but because there are new releases in the store, and this week there’s a brand new Featured Designer, Megan Farrow of Studio Flergs.

One quick look at Megan’s store and you’ll see that her fantastic Remember the Magic Collections have everything you would ever need to scrapbook the Magic of Disney.  From trips to the parks, movie nights, character meetings and just love of all things magical, she has it covered!  But more than just remembering the magic, Studio Flergs has something in her shoppe for every occasion, adding a magical touch to everyday topics like Boy Stuff, Pink Lemonade, and even Halloween.

Now come check out this seriously cute Featured Designer kit, Holly Jolly Christmas which is yours FREE with any $10 purchase from now until the next Featured Designer goes live in two weeks.  This kit has everything you want in a Christmas kit in great primary colors.  This is filled with great flowers, themed elements, and wordart about all your fun Christmas activities.

And check out these extras, the perfect accents to make compliment this fun kit.  Those shimmer papers are just perfection, don’t you think?  What better way to work towards getting the kit for free than adding this to your cart and completing the collection?

And now to find out more about Megan!

Tell us about your journey with digital scrapbooking… How did you find out about it? Did you start with paper first? How did you get started designing? Where was your first shop? How and when did you end up at Sweet Shoppe Designs?

I started with paper scrapping & fell in love with a digital page over at 2 peas. So I looked into Digital and found a few freebies and forums. I started a few blog freebies & I was asked to sell my designs at a store (how awful that I can’t remember the name of the store I sold at). Then after a while I moved to Scrapbookgraphics and sold there for quite a few years. But I always loved the designers at Sweet Shoppe and how active the forums were so I reached out to Robin when I had retired in 2013, and I have been at SSD every since! My retirement after my 3rd baby in 2013 was very short lived.

Show us a recent mood or inspiration board… or two.

Here are 3 recent mood boards and their resulting kits:

If you draw your own doodles or sketches for designs, what do you use for that? Tablet, pen, paper, scanner? Tell us more about your process and tools.

I use the pen tool in photoshop & I have tried iPad pro, tablets, AI & everything else… but I work faster & more accurately with the pen tool. 99% of my work is done is Photoshop & I rarely use AI, only to open vectors & then edit in Photoshop.

Show us a preview for one of your first kits, compared to a recent kit you’re proud of. We want to see how far you’ve come!

Here are some of my old kits, and 3 of my newest ones.

If you had an hour to yourself, but were not allowed to use it to scrapbook or design, what would you spend the hour doing?

I’d either take a nap, or just waste my hour scrolling mindlessly on my phone with Law & Order SUV on in the background.

Share your favorite recipe with photos!

This is my current favourite meal. It is a combination of 2 recipes that I have modified and make once a week as Chinese take away has become way too expensive here.

Mongolian Beef:

500g rump steak or any beef cut into thin strips. Marinate for 1 hour or more in 1 tb Chinese cooking wine, 1 Tb light soy sauce, 1 Ts cornflour & 1 Ts bi carb soda.

Sauce:

  • ½ Cup chicken bone broth.
  • 2 Ts cornflour
  • 2 Tb Light soy sauce
  • 2 Tb Chinese cooking wine
  • 3 TB brown sugar

Fry a diced onion & brown beef. Add sauce & thinly sliced carrot simmer for 3-5 mins. Add other vegetables as desired ( I used baby corn, zucchini, water chestnuts, broccoli, pak choy) and simmer for another 5 mins.

Doesn’t that look amazing?  I need to try this recipe!  Before you go, check out these amazing pages that the SugarBabes created with  Holly Jolly Christmas  and the extras!

That’s it for me from today, come back next Friday to see which 15 products Megan has chosen for her Featured Designer 15 sale starting December 26th!  Until then, keep on scrapping!
