Sweet Talk with: AmieN1

Hey everyone I’m excited to bring you one of our blog features, Sweet Talk, which sheds some light on YOU. Our amazing community members. Once a month we will indulge in some “sweet talk” and have some fun getting to know you all a little bit better.

“When someone tells you a piece of their life, they’re giving you a gift.” – Patrick Rothfuss

We’ll start off with an ice breaker and show off some gorgeous pages then we’ll end the interview with a lightning round of 15 questions to learn some fun, interesting and cool things about a different member of the sweetest spot in town!

This month I’m excited to introduce: Amie (AmieN1 in the forum)

Tell us a bit about yourself. How you came to find digital scrapbooking? Day job, where you live, pets, kids? Give us the tea!!

She says: “I’m an avid crafter (digi & paper), lover of coffee, baking cupcakes & all things glitter/sparkly and am almost always listening to an audiobook!”

“When my daughter was turning one, I was looking for birthday party invites and happened upon and entire new world of digital creations. I knew it was something I could do myself since I was already a paper scrapper & card maker, instead of paying someone on ebay to do it for me. I quickly fell into the ?download all the freebies? trap of digi scrapping and experimented from then on!”

“I’m a part time dental hygienist, full time mom to a teenage girl (15) and a preteen boy (12), dog momma to our rotten pups- English bulldog (Nelly) and Frenchy bulldog (Cooper), and a wife to a hardworking banker! I have been a lifelong Washingtonian and we live in the beautiful Northeast corner of Washington State- Spokane Valley!”

I love our members and I love looking through the different galleries. Amie’s gallery is full of daily life, fun, & her family. Each page is centered around family’s daily lives, from softball to her yummy dessert creations and her cute pooches, she’s documenting all the moments, like in this gorgeous page:

Gorgeous page, gorgeous family, and this page is exactly what I think of when I think of Amie as a community member. Her love for her life & family shines through in every page she shares with us!

I asked her to choose three favorite pages from her gallery and she was happy to share these with us:

“This one is one of my all-time favorites. It was a challenge to do split colors and all these supplies and my photos just worked so well for it!”

“I LOVED creating this layout! It is extractions of 5 different photos. I loved playing around with the shadows and the composition definitely flexed my photoshop knowledge & skills. There?s even a lens flare in there! Lol!”

“I love working with cutfiles digitally too. This layout is one my favorite ways to do that to add some fun interest! I think this challenge was to use the word joy & the cutfile worked perfectly! I also has a lot of fun with some fun dimensional shadows!”

Of course Amie has lots more of beautiful pages in her gallery. If you want to see more or leave her a little love I’m sure she would like that.  But this interview isn’t all about her gorgeous creations before we go let’s learn some more about her when she’s not scrapbooking. I gave her a list of questions to choose from and asked her to answer any 15 of her choice.

1. What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
I love my off days during the week where the kids go to school, the hubby to work and I just have the day to myself to get my stuff done. I usually start in the hot tub in the morning with my coffee. It’s so relaxing and a great way to start the day! I then shower, ready and start on chores or errands and I almost ALWAYS find time to get some scrapping done too!

2. What type of music are you into?
I’m a lover of ALL genres, but my favorite is probably rock/alternative. I’ve been into country lately, as well as lots of Taylor Swift (I have a 15 yr old daughter?)

3. What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
We do so much traveling for our kids? activities (hockey & softball) that we tend to make a ‘vacation’ out of wherever we are for those, but I think our next feasible family travel will probably be either grand canyon and hit up some of the national parks in Utah (all of that was planned for the summer of covid? bummer) OR Olympic national park- I grew up there but the kids and hubby have never been. We really like to explore and visit national parks as much as possible.

4. What’s your favorite pizza topping?
I like ‘foofy’ pizza as my husband says- artichokes, pesto, all the yummy weird ingredients. And YES pineapple is absolutely a pizza topping!

5. Are you a binge watcher? What’s the last show you binged?
Yes, but within reason- usually we can do half a season or so in a day, but a lot of times we have stuff going on or get too tired to stay up later! The last show I binged was the new season of Sweet Magnolias.

6. If you could tell us to read one book, what would you recommend?
JUST one!?!? 😉 I’m a book LOVER. My favorite author is Kristin Hannah. The Nightingale by her is probably my most favorite book right now.

7. Tell us one of your nicknames?
Amos- most hated of all the nicknames

8. What color dominates your closest? Is it the same for your home decor?
Minty teal/turquoise- I’m actively trying not to buy anything else in that color. Yes, it is somewhat in our home, but mostly just my office and daughter’s room as she loves it color too.

9. Amusement park or National park?
National park for sure! We’ve been to a lot of them and are trying to visit as many as we can!

10. What’s your favorite season?
We have all 4 seasons here in Eastern WA. I love that when I’m getting tired of one season, the next is just around the corner. My most favorite is Fall/Autumn. Warm days, cool evenings, the most beautiful foliage and sunsets.

11. What is your go-to app for wasting time?
Instagram or Pinterest

12. Are you cooking at home or picking up to-go?
Cooking at Home. We go out to eat maybe once a week or so, but never usually get to-go unless we’re on the road traveling.

13. What’s your regular or go-to coffee order?
Grande (16oz) Iced Americano with light whipped cream. I used to ask for a splash of cream, but everyone’s interpretation of a ‘splash’ is different. I hate too much cream. I’ve found that whipped cream will melt down to the perfect amount!

14. What’s inside of your purse right now?
I rarely carry my purse around anymore, I usually just grab my wallet out of it when I’m out & about. It’s pretty clean since I just emptied it out not too long ago- but it has: wallet, lip gloss, chap-stick, some gum, sunscreen, a couple pens, nail file, glasses, floss and a bottle full of random meds (ibuprofen, antihistamines, Sudafed & aleve.)

15. What’s on your desk at work or home?
At work I just have my chair that I work out of and we have nothing out on counters since covid, so my locker at work is my ‘stuff’ area. At home, my desk right now is a mess- it has my usual planner and pens, but also the stuff that needs put away since we got home from our last softball tourney yesterday. It has my portable charger and extra cords, my phone streaming fence holder, my travel colorstreet nail bag, a box of glow sticks, some hair clips, 2 coffee cups, a random box of paintbrushes (lol) and a pile of mail to go through.

I loved learning more about Amie. She’s my scrapping sister. I definitely share her love for the 4 seasons and the rabbit hole of “download all the freebies” of finding digi-scrap lol…of which I have since purged all of those freebies. I hope you had fun learning more about Amie. 2024 I’ll continue this series but will be switching up some of the format so I’m looking forward to that. Until next time, keep scrapping your memories! See ya around!
