Featured Designer – Meghan Mullens
Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers! We are having our first cold snap of the year here in Alberta, and I’m thankful to be bundled up at home with a blanket and my laptop and scrapping the evenings away as it’s much too cold to do anything else!

And now to learn a bit more about Meghan!
Tell us about your journey with digital scrapbooking… How did you find out about it? Did you start with paper first? How did you get started designing? Where was your first shop? How and when did you end up at Sweet Shoppe Designs?
I found digital scrapbooking from the signature tag community umpteen years ago! I had dabbled in paper scrapping previously but loved digital the minute I discovered it. I was a Sugar Babe at Sweet Shoppe Designs and started dabbling into designing. I applied when SSD had a designer call and have been with the Shoppe since.
How do you stay motivated or deal with the loss of mojo?
Forced creativity is really hard. I pretty much took 3/4 of 2023 off unintentionally and I think it’s done wonders for me. I found when I did a kit for Black Friday and now my featured kit that I genuinely miss designing. I’m a super type A planner and have sat and planned at least a kit for each month and I think organizing my ideas on paper has helped motivate me to turn my ideas into art.
How long does it take you to put a collection together from start to finish?
I’m a pretty slow-ish designer…(I have ADD…easily distracted) It takes me roughly a week to get a whole collection done. I can do just a kit in 3-4 days.
What comes first when designing… theme or color palette?
Usually a theme, then I browse saved palettes I have and see if any “match” my theme idea.
What is your Enneagram number and how do you see it play out in your life?
I’m Enneagram 6 wing 5…I’m quite shy and treasure close quality friendships over a quantity of “friends” in my life. I’m also loyal to a fault…can be good or bad.
I’m also a giver by nature (gift giving is also my love language) and making other people happy makes me happy. I don’t deal with unexpected change very well. I like to have a plan and stick with it.

This is me to a T – lol – I’m a mess!
