Featured Designer – River~Rose Designs

Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers!  I hope you’ve had a great week and have plans for relaxing some time this weekend.  My kids were off for Spring Break this week, so even though I was working we tried to get in some fun time together as well.  Spring has definitely arrived, I’m really enjoying time spent outside around a fire with friends, that’s already happened a couple times this year.

Our newest Featured Designer is none other than Bobbie of River~Rose Designs.  Bobbie’s designs are always so full of fantastic flowers and themed elements, in amazing colour schemes that always inspire me to scrap.  I love that her bundles usually include some mixed media items too, they’re always the perfect way to finish off my pages.  There are so many great things in her Shoppe, including our newest Featured Designer freebie, Adventures in Gardening.  This is another great kit to add to our Adventure Series, and the best thing is this kit is FREE with any $10 purchase from now until the new releases go live on May 3.  This kit is so versatile – even though I have zero gardening experience (I kill green things …) this kit was so easy to use off-theme, and the Babes knocked it out of the park with their pages, just like they always do.

Bobbie also created this mini kit as an add on to the main kit – if you’re into growing your own herbs, or just like the colour green, this kit is for you!

Now let’s find out more about Bobbie!

Tell us about your journey with digital scrapbooking… How did you find out about it? Did you start with paper first? How did you get started designing? Where was your first shop? How and when did you end up at Sweet Shoppe Designs?

In 2008 I was looking for paper scrapbooking ideas as I was fairly new to scrapbooking altogether. I came across a gallery where people were uploading their pages. I was super intrigued, started doing some research and started digital scrapbooking instead of paper. From there I decided I wanted to try my hand at designing because I was having so much fun. And here we are now, 16 years as a designer. I started designing at Sweet Shoppe in 2017 and have loved every minute of it.

How do you define your style? What does that style include? How has your style changed over the years?

I don’t think I have a specific style and see my designs as a mix of things. For example, I like fabric flowers but I also like to draw them and make stickers or 3D-ish type elements. I think I just sort of mix everything up . A long time ago I drew a lot and used those in my kits. I stopped for a really long time and just started drawing again a few years ago.

How do you stay motivated or deal with the loss of mojo?

I like scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration. I’ve found inspiration for colors or themes through patterns, swatches, wordart and so many other things.

Show us a preview for one of your first kits, compared to a recent kit you’re proud of. We want to see how far you’ve come!

I think I posted this kit last year but here is a good side by side comparison, I think.

Are there any adventures you’d like to go on in the future?

I love to kayak! I have a trip planned this August and I cannot wait to go!  Here’s a picture of my first time in a kayak and what got me hooked:

Given the choice, would you pick an indoor or outdoor adventure?

Definitely outdoors!

Would you rather go on a relaxing vacation or an adventure hike?

I think I would like to have a mix of both, a little adventuring and a little relaxing.

What is your current desktop or cell phone wallpaper? Why did you choose that image?

This is currently my cell phone wallpaper. It’s my granddaughter in her Easter dress.

Do you have hobbies other than scrapbooking, photography, or memory keeping? Tell us about them.

I love gardening, canning and fishing with my husband.

Before you go, check out these gorgeous inspiration pages from the SugarBabes.

That’s it for today, come back next week to get a sneak peek of the 15 products Bobbie has chosen for her Featured Designer 15 sale.  Until then, keep on scrapping!
