Summer Scrap-A-Thon Shoutouts (Vol 3)
Hello hello my fellow scrappers!! Welcome to the third installment of our Summer Scrap-A-Thon Shoutouts! I hope you’re enjoying the summer challenges! My goal is to scrap each challenge this year and so far, I’ve really had a blast doing so, and hope you have too!!
Today we’re starting out with SugarBabe Judie’s Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. For the challenge, your goal is to use the classic tic-tac-toe board as the backdrop of your composition and include noticeable X’s and O’s somewhere on your page. In her post, Judie explains that the Rule of Thirds imagines a tic-tac-toe board in the background and proposes that important compositional elements should be placed along the lines or at the intersection of the lines to have the greatest impact on the viewer. As an added bonus, Lorie (LJS Designs) provided a stitched and paint grid element template to use with the challenge (if you desire).
Here’s a terrific layout from amyjcaz using Lorie’s template. Not only did she nail the X’s and O’s portion of the challenge, but she also topped off her layout by using the rule of thirds.

The layout that shunnstergirl created is another skillful example of using a tic-tac-toe pattern for the challenge. Well done Alyna, well done!!

Yatzee is a super fun dice game and SugarBabe Eve’s challenge is to create a layout that follows the composition on the face of one side of a dice ie. one small cluster in the center of the page, elements in all 4 corners or angled from one corner to the other like a 3. Easy-peasy, right?
CaroRen’s inspiration was the face of the number two dice. The white space she’s created by placing her amazing cluster in opposite corner’s is glorious. I’d say she rolled a winner with her layout!

GrannyNKy rolled a five with her pretty page! The use of rounded photos is super creative!

SugarBabe Krista is hosting the Candyland challenge where your yummy quest is to create a page using all of the delectable kits in the shoppe with candies, cookies, cakes and/or other sweet treats. Since the shoppe is OOZING with SWEET kits, the challenge should be fun AND easy!
Here’s Lynn Zant‘s take on the tasty challenge. I can see why Molley’s is one of her favorite candy shops! YUM!!

Here is a terrific page created by Mckdaisy – her take on the challenge was spot on! That smile says it all —- it’s ice cream time!! Yayay!!

Scrappinnewbie’s page makes my mouth water!! Perfectly created for the challenge!

Next on the docket, we have SugarBabe Ally’s Connect Four challenge. Your mission is to create a page that involves making connections. Create a layout with 4 photos of people, places or things that are connected in a special way. Ally explains “there is so much room for interpretation here, and I really can’t wait to see all the ways you will run with this challenge.”
I love how Brendazzle’s four photos show the progress of the snow in a jar project! What a fun experiment and a perfect page for the challenge!

BettyJoR explains that the four angels on her layout represent angels she gifts to her nieces each Christmas to let them know they are special angels. What a beautiful sentiment and a beautiful page to represent the challenge.

I know Robin, the designers, my fellow SB team members and I have all been completely blown away by the creative challenge layouts that are being posted! Our community members are what makes SSD a special place and we appreciate you … keep those layouts coming!!
I can’t wait to showcase more layouts next time … until then … happy scrapping!!
Jill
