Summer Scrap-A-Thon Shoutouts
Hello Hello!! Welcome to our very first SUMMER SCRAP-A-THON SHOUTOUT blog post!
Now that the summer event is in full swing, I’ll be popping in at least once a week to share a few note-worthy challenge layouts that I’ve discovered.
I hope you’re enjoying the challenges so far, but that is truly only the top of the iceberg … there is SOOO much more yet to come over the next two months! It’s amazing to see the gallery growing by leaps and bounds!! I’ve mentioned it before, but will repeat it … Sweet Shoppe has the most creative community members … HANDS DOWN!!!
Let’s get started, shall we?
Robin kicked off the event with Scrabble, which was a head-scratcher, wasn’t it?! The requirements are to create words on your scrabble board by adding elements to your layout which begin with the first letter of the letters in your word. Honestly though, it’s not so intimidating once you get rolling! (In case you haven’t completed the challenge yet and have questions, please be sure to check out Robin’s post here.)
HeatherB used the words “bat” and “flapped” on her Scrabble board for a total of 24 points. The words she scrapped with were flowers, leaves, alpha, paper, paper strips, embellished title, date tab and buttons, aqua flowers and template. Nicely done Heather!!

Lorigaud used the following three words on her board: frappe, jaws and began, scoring 45 points. Her page included flowers, ribbon, Alchemy Wild template, papers, paint, ephemera, journal card, alpha, word art, stitching, brad, (an) experience, greenery and age. I think Lori might be a Scrabble pro!!

For Sugarbabe Mama Bee’s SCATTERGORIES challenge, everything on the layout had to begin with the same letter. As I browsed the gallery, I was impressed with the assortment of letters and the creativity that was being poured into making those letters work!
Here is the page that Imafishtank created, using the letter “S”. Her words were: sidewalk chalk, six pictures, stars, stripes, solids, sixteen squares, “skinny cute” font, stitches and finally sparkle. All excellent choices!

Tammybean’s pick was the letter “F”. And while my first thought would be to use lots of flowers, she used very few. Check out her F words: five papers, five paints, five book related elements, flower, fasteners, four word art, favorite author, felt board, foliage, fixer upper template, frame, fiesta (ribbon color), flags, filagree and fan girl. Wow, just wow!!

Moving on to SugarBabe Trina’s Blackjack challenge, your task is to create a black and white monochromatic page with 21 layers or pieces.
Scrap-therapy posted that she didn’t think she could do much with just 21 elements because she loves clusters so much, but (!) check out what she came up with!! Her page is stunning and I’m sure she was pleased with the outcome!! (And yes, she hit 21 on the nose!)

The Wordle challenge that is being hosted by SugarBabe Char is easy peasy and may be a nice reprieve after having a few arduous challenges. According to Char, you are to use a single five letter word as a big bold title on your page.
Here are pages created by Angel, Im44west and KylieShatto, respectively.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed the first installment of the summer scrap-a-thon shoutouts, and maybe even picked up a bit of inspiration along the way!
Robin and designers are uber generous are giving tons of discounts, prizes and free stuff during this spectacular celebration! Be sure to check out all of the details here!
Until next time, keep those challenge layouts coming and happy scrapping!!
