Featured Designer – Studio Liv

Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers! What a wacky week of weather everywhere, even where I am in Canada we had some worse-than-usual weather. I had to travel for work and what would normally have taken an hour and a half to drive took almost 5 hours due to accidents and road closures. I can’t wait for spring!

Today I get to introduce you to the amazing Liv of Studio Liv. This is her first Featured Designer feature since joining Sweet Shoppe Designs last year, and I can’t wait to find out more about her! As always with the Featured Designer feature there is also a free with purchase kit that comes with it, and Liv knocked this out of the park with this adorable Kitschy Kitchen kit. This kit is so fun for your memories in the kitchen – cooking and baking, or avoiding doing the same! I love the colours and how it reminds me of days gone by and my grandma’s kitchen. This kit is FREE with your $10 purchase from now until our next Featured Designer goes live on Feb. 7th.

Liv also created this great add-on pack that includes cards, papers, stickers and alphas and is the perfect companion to the main kit!

And now to learn more about Liv!

Tell us about your journey with digital scrapbooking… How did you find out about it? Did you start with paper first? How did you get started designing? Where was your first shop? How and when did you end up at Sweet Shoppe Designs?

I found digital scrapbooking through my mom in 2008. I just had to know more about Photoshop once I heard of it! I was always crafty before as a kid but once I had PS, it became one of, if not my biggest, hobby.
I studied graphic design during my undergrad, and soon after I was employed in the hospitality industry. But when that industry went south in 2020, I needed to change directions. I returned to digital scrapbooking regularly in 2020-21 and finally took the plunge in July 2021 to sell my own designs as Studio Liv. My first shop was on Etsy, and I was at two other stores before joining the Sweetest Shoppe around. I opened my shop here in June 2024!

I had a ton of fun looking for inspiration for my featured kit, Kitschy Kitchen, even though I have plenty of inspiring mid-century pieces in my home! I made this collage on Pinterest which helped me narrow down my illustration style and color palette for the collection.

Show us a preview for one of your first kits, compared to a recent kit you’re proud of. We want to see how far you’ve come!
So, many moons ago, I made a template set with my mom (Cheryl of Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs). I think this must have been around 2010-11?

Here is our most recent collaboration… I think you can see improvements from both of us in the past 10+ years! It’s still a pinch-me moment to create kits –little me had no idea how to make a kit.

What’s your most memorable childhood adventure?
My most memorable childhood adventures are our family trips to Ichetucknee Springs! We spent a lot of the time swimming and tubing. Here’s a layout from one of our summers:

Are there any adventures you’d like to go on in the future?
I’d love to travel anywhere with my partner. Right now, heading north to somewhere mountainous sounds amazing! I think the most scenic place I’ve traveled was northern Georgia – this Florida girl needs to get out more.

If you could go on a date but only had $25 to spend, where would you go?

Grab coffees and thrift shop–no budget for a meal but maybe we can find some deals (or at least something funny) thrifting. Lots of time to chat. Quality time is my favorite, so the activity really isn’t a big deal as long as I’m with my partner.

What was your first job?
I babysat some in high school/college, and my first real job was at a department store between my freshman and sophomore years in college.

I feel like I’ve seen Liv grow up through her mom’s pages over the years, so I’ve loved finding out more about her as a person, and a designer!

Now check out these amazing pages the SugarBabes created with Kitschy Kitchen.

That’s all for today, come back next Friday to get a sneak peek of the 15 products that Liv has chosen for her Featured Designer 15 sale starting February 4th. Until then, keep on scrapping!
