Miscellaneous Monday – Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day

Happy Monday, everyone! We’re half way through January already. I can hardly believe how quickly the time goes by. So, two weeks after the new year . . . how are you doing on your resolutions? Are you still going strong or are you struggling to keep up with your own high aspirations? Well, in case you are one of those who has already faltered . . . have no fear!! This Wednesday, the 17th, is Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day.

When I first saw this, I have to admit that it confused me. I mean, even if you’ve struggled to keep your New Year’s Resolutions, that’s no reason to ditch them entirely, right? But, this explanation changed my mind:

Don’t keep yourself tied to [your Resolutions] any longer, realize that you’ve got to make real strides, all year long to make any kind of change happen, and start looking at real lifestyle changes. Little bits at a time you can make whole life resolutions, and leave the bitter disappointment of not going down a few sizes in the dirt of changing a lifetime of bad habits.

Realize that some of your New Year’s Resolutions are just silly, limiting, or depressing. Some people swear to things like never falling in love again, and who needs that in their life? Get out there and start living your life and being satisfied with who you are, and if you aren’t genuinely satisfied, change it for that reason, and not because a new calendar has flipped over!

So, it’s not about giving up on your goals, it’s about reassesing the reason behind your goals . . . making small, genuine changes that will lead you to the life you want. With that idea in mind, I looked through the Shoppe for products that celebrate fresh starts and making changes for a better life, but not necessarily doing it at the beginning of a New Year. Take a look at the awesome stuff I found:

So many amazing goodies!! If you’re kicking yourself for struggling to keep your New Year’s Resolutions, use this opportunity to ditch those resolutions and just strive for the life you want to have. And, don’t forget to document your progress!!
