Featured Staffer 2/25 – Darcy Baldwin

Happy Friday my sweet fellow scrappers!! Today we have your final bonus challenge for February and it’ll be a super fun way to earn that extra point for your portfolio! I get the privilege of letting you get to know our fabulous designer (and scrapper) Darcy Baldwin!! Let’s get to know a bit more about her!!

I was born in the East Indies to a sea-faring man who had a farm in middle America where he retired and allowed me to live a life on the plains. He married a woman who was gentle and kind and taught me how to be a farmer’s wife….wait…that’s my dream. In reality, it’s not so exotic. I’m a homeschooling mom to two wonderful little boys, who love to play homesteading family with me, though DH is tired of me asking for chickens and rabbits. We live in Texas and love literature, movies, science, cooking and Dr. Who. We’re a geek family and wave our geek flag proudly. One fun fact you don’t know about me: I can burp in and out. Amazing, huh? My boys think it’s pretty awesome! I’ve been creating fonts for just about 4 years now, and love being able to help people record their memories, digitally, in their own handwriting, adding that extra special touch to their layouts and projects.

I now scrap with PSCS3, but spent most of my scrapping ‘career’ scrapping in PSCS. I’m a scrapper who is more on the simple side, and really focus on journaling and story-telling. I started out as a paper scrapper about 7.5 years ago and switched to digital 5.5 years ago. I have NEVER looked back I love digital and all that it can do for me, without the waste and the mess.

How did you get started making fonts and designing?

I was on Kimberly Geswein’s creative team and we became really great friends. When she was ready to retire and move on to new adventures for her family, she took me under her wing – and I started my own business.

What is your designing atmosphere?

Surrounded by books, boys, computers and books on tape. In the mornings, I work in the quiet for a few hours before they’re up, and usually have music or a book on tape going. If I’m working in the afternoon after we’re done with school, there’s lots of boys playing or listening to stories and chatter!

What are two things you consider yourself to be very good at?

Telling stories and making huge messes!! 🙂 I’m learning how to cook in a fashion more than how I was taught by my mom.  While I have a few great dishes under my belt now and an entire new way of looking at food, I am REALLY good at making big huge messes!!

What is your best-selling product?

I’ve asked Darcy to share 3 of her favorite layouts with us.

Choosing favorite layouts is like choosing favorite children! But…here are some more recent favorites.

This one just because I love my honey, was proud of the shot, and had lots to say about why I’m so blessed to have him as my man 😉

I love that I was able to use non-traditional colors for this snow layout. It expresses the joy of my boys most days, but particularly on this snow day – something we’ve gotten a lot of recently!

This one is one of my favorites because of the huge deal it was for our family to get to meet a President. Misty’s templates were just so perfect for doing this layout!!
