Featured Staffer 4/22 – Eva Kipler

Hey Sweet Shoppers!! I hope everyone’s April is just fantastic. It’s hard to believe May is right around the corner! Let’s get right to this week’s Featured Staffer… Eva Kipler!

I live in Virginia Beach , Virginia with my husband of 19 years and our three children (ages 19, 16, and 12). My husband, who is a U.S. Naval officer, is often deployed overseas, so the vast majority of my time is spent with my three children and our rambunctious three-year-old goldendoodle dog, Lola.

I work on a PC and use PSCS5, Illustrator CS5, and PSP X2 (Paint Shop Pro). I have been designing and selling my designs since August of 2005 (close to six years).

How did you get started designing?

In June of 2005 we went on a family vacation to Washington DC. When we returned I knew I wanted to make a scrapbook of our photos — but I am REALLY not a very crafty person. I searched online and discovered digital scrapbooking! I was in love! I downloaded loads of freebies (still have some of Shabby Princess’ freebies on my external hard drive). I was already very familiar with Paint Shop Pro… so when I couldn’t find a free element or paper I wanted for a layout I made my own. I started selling my designs just a few months later in August of 2005 at a store called “Digital Freebies” (which is no longer open). The rest is history (or so the saying goes).

Where do you get inspiration for your designs?

Everyday life is my biggest inspiration. People scrap about their lives… so things that happen everyday should be a major influencing factor for kit design. I am also very influenced by colors. I adore color… especially bright clear colors.

What’s your designing “atmosphere”?

I design sitting in the recliner on our sofa sectional in our living room. I like quiet (no noise, TV, music, etc.) but with 3 kids that is nearly impossible. I am usually drinking coffee (hot coffee in the morning and iced coffee for the rest of the day until about 7pm — when I switch to water). I don’t really snack while I design. I am not coordinated enough. LOL

What is your best selling product?

I couldn’t tell you my best selling product ever since I don’t have the records for it (remember I have been selling for almost 6 years). From my recent releases (within the last year) my best selling kit would be Love of Family.

I also asked Eva to share with us three of her own favorite products and tell us what she loves about them:

Love My Daddy

I made this kit when my Daddy was very ill and in the hospital. I put my heart and soul into it and love it (as well as my Daddy!). My customers love it as well since it is one of my best sellers.

b-YOU-tiful

I really like the colors in this kit. It just makes me happy.

She’s All That

I love the unique contrast of colors in this kit and I have seen so many GORGEOUS layouts with this kit that I can’t help but love it.
