Dear Sweet Shoppe Friends,
Earlier this afternoon Sunday, April 10th, 2011, a hacker accessed an exploit in our old zen cart store installation to replace our site’s index page, and use the zen cart newsletter feature to send a spam mail from us to all users who were subscribed to the newsletter in our old store.
We wanted to let you know that this issue has been fixed, the old installation with the vulnerability has been moved to a secure location, and the user who did this was blocked from our server. At this time, we do not believe this person had access to any personal information stored on our databases, our primary file structure, any of our main scripts like our community, gallery or XCart, and Sweet Shoppe Designs is working as normal with all files and information intact. In short, this person was strictly able to use the exploit in zencart to upload a .php script which automatically sent the message you received and that’s it.
We have received several emails questioning why we would affiliate ourselves with the site who spammed you. Please know that we were a victim of this mischief maker as well, and would NEVER share your information with ANY other company. We are working hard behind the scenes to investigate this situation completely and insure that something like this never happens again. We greatly appreciate your understanding in this matter as your privacy, and ours, is incredibly valuable to us.
