Miscellaneous Monday – iPod Day
Good morning Sweet Shoppers! 16 years ago, in the (then) height of the portable electronics industry, a computer company released a new, small device. That device changed the world! Enter the iPod…
A compact and durable device capable of holding the entire contents of most peoples CD collections.
With a price tag of $399, it was scooped up by affluent music enthusiasts to compile their entire collection into one place. For the first time in music history it was possible to have any song you wanted available at a touch of a button. In a master stroke, iTunes was released in January of the same year, and the music industry scooped up the opportunity to provide songs on a piece meal basis.
With these two powerful tools, the iPod was set to change the world. History has shown that Apple’s ambitions were both met and exceeded.
Today is iPod Day! It really celebrates the rise of music and it being a constant for everyone. Most of us, if not all, have some sort of portable music device…most likely an iDevice or Android. Think back on the evolution you’ve had with music…what you’ve listened to, how you’ve listened to it, where you listen to it, even how much you listen to it. I started out with a walkman, then got my first discman in junior high (I think?), then I got my first iPod (nano, shuffle, the big iPod…I’ve had them all) a few years after that, THEN I got my first smartphone and my life hasn’t been the same since. It changed even more when I opened my first iPhone. I listen to music, talks, podcasts, tv shows, etc every single day on my iPhone. It really is amazing!!
So today, document it!! Celebrate iPod Day today by documenting your music history. You can document what you listen to, your current favorites, how you listen (ear buds, via aux cord, bluetooth speaker?), or your personal musical history. This will be so fun to look back on later! Here’s some products I found in the Shoppe to help you 🙂
