Featured Designer – Alchemy Wild Studio
Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers! It’s Friday the 13th, which I know is considered a bad luck day by a lot of people but 13 seems to be lucky in my family, so I get excited when it lines up on a Friday. No rhyme or reason to why I love it.
Today we have a new featured designer, the one and only Amber Dixon of Alchemy Wild Studio. Amber’s templates are always so fun, so full of life and elements. With her templates you can easily design so many different types of pages, from general every day memories to themed templates for all the varieties of holiday or season memories you need to scrap. I love how every page you see with her templates looks so different because they are so versatile. I also love that they emulate a traditional paper scrapbooking style with lots of layers and fun.
Along with a new Featured Designer we also have a new Featured Designer freebie. Amber’s contribution to our Adventure X Series is North Pole Adventure. At first glance you can see that they’re perfect for your winter and holiday themed layouts, but as you’ll see later in this post with the SugarBabe layouts they can be used for non holiday-themed pages as well. Best of all, this set is FREE with your $10 purchase from now until the new releases go live on December 27th.
And now to learn more about Amber!
Tell us about your journey with digital scrapbooking… How did you find out about it? Did you start with paper first? How did you get started designing? Where was your first shop? How and when did you end up at Sweet Shoppe Designs?
I started digital scrapbooking in 2007, after discovering it through a good friend. I started designing in 2011, and i don’t even remember my first store! I know my second store was TDC, and I worked continuously to improve and work towards my goal of opening at SSD. I retired in 2015, and returned to designing in 2020 and that is when I opened at Sweet Shoppe!
How do you define your style? What does that style include? How has your style changed over the years?
Definitely traditional. I try to design my templates so that your layouts look more like paper pages rather than digital art.
What comes first when designing… theme or color palette?
Color for sure, I have hundreds of palettes!
How long does it take you to put a collection together from start to finish?
Usually 6-8 hours for a full set of layered templates; however I have some sets with almost 200 layers per template and those sets usually take upwards of 12-15 hours to complete.
If you could pick anyone in the past or present to go on an adventure with, who would you pick and what would you do?
My husband, and I really don’t know LOL! I’m more of a homebody and I don’t like surprises
Would you rather go on a relaxing vacation or an adventure hike?
Relaxing vacay
If you had an hour to yourself, but were not allowed to use it to scrapbook or design, what would you spend the hour doing?
Sleeping lol
What’s your favorite knock-knock joke?
Knock Knock! Who’s there? Just me, don’t cry!” – my youngest son Spencer used to tell this little joke when he was small and it will forever make my heart smile!
What’s the last really great book you read or tv show you watched?
I’m currently watching Teacup and am completely obsessed!!
What song(s) are playing in the soundtrack of your life?
Anything by Falling in Reverse
