Featured Designer FWP – Krystal Hartley
Happy Friday friends! It’s a new day and we’re debuting a new Featured Designer, Krystal Hartley! I feel like her shabby-chic design style is so unique, especially right now with a lot of designers going to modern & clean lines. Her FWP kit, Sunny Side, shows off her unique style while also mixing well with Amber Shaw & Grace Lee’s styles. This kit is beautiful! You can’t help but smile while looking at it and thinking about all of those sunny moments in your life. Take a look!
I asked Krystal what inspired her to create Sunny Side and her design process behind it. I also asked her what she thinks her strength as a designer is and what’s her “signature”…or what would others recognize her for. Here’s what she had to say…
Texas highways and back-roads are covered in sunflowers, and it’s probably my favorite wildflower. I love the color scheme of black and white with gold and pops of red.
My design process usually starts with a “vibe” inspiration that is more about style and colors than theme. I tend to fill my kits with great layering elements, including lots of paint, stamps and graffiti that help create stunning backgrounds. I think they work best for special photos and memories rather than event-scrapping.
I couldn’t tell you my strength from a design perspective. My signature style is shabby-chic–my papers and elements are frequently distressed and faded, a stark contrast to some of the more trendy graphic, colorful styles.
