Featured Designer FWP – Studio Basic Designs
Happy Friday friends! It’s a new day and we’re debuting a new Featured Designer, Ru of Studio Basic Designs! Her FWP kit, Every Moment Matters, stays true to her and shows off her eclectic style. The neutral colors with the pops of yellow & light blue make this kit stand out! Take a look!
I asked Ru what inspired her to create Every Moment Matters and her design process behind it. I also asked her what she thinks her strength as a designer is and what’s her “signature”…or what would others recognize her for. Here’s what she had to say…
I have a huuuuge list of names/ideas for kits. Have loooooots of Pinterest images saved in one secret board… But I knew I wanted to make something more neutral with white and was having zero ideas about how to call it and if I should do it more “clean” or more “artsy”… So, after too much thinking, I started my kit thinking about some “day by day” theme, something that could be used for “not so important” dates, with lots of labels and kraft elements. After I did my papers, I was still unsure about how to follow with my kit! So I decided to send KCB and Robin a message asking their opinion about it…they both loved it! Robin told me she could totally see it being used in a wedding artsy page and my head decided that, yeah – my kit could be something more romantic. But being honest, I am not sure where my mind was at the end – I know the kit turned out not so much as kraft-y as I thought when I first started it and not a wedding kit as Robin thought… LOL But I totally love it!! It is something that can be used for day by day photos, I think (hope! lol), but also for more “romantic” pages. 🙂
I love trying different things (themes/colors) and I think that is my biggest strength as designer.
While working, I am always trying to imagine, as a scrapper, how I could use all the elements & papers. Most of the time, I even try some elements with papers to make sure they look good together. So I would say that I also think like a scrapper, which is something I consider in favor. But I think that, if I asked my team/Babes/customers what would be my signature, people would say my kits are a little crazy and big (again, as scrapper, I love big kits with lots of elements). I love working with brushes and I like thinking about all details a page can have.
Ru hoped this kit would work for everyday & wedding photos. The Babes showed her how great this kit truly is though. Check out their layouts!
