I asked Crystal what inspired her to create Crystal’s Layered Templates: Set 6 and what her design process was. I also asked her what she thinks her strength as a designer is and what she would consider her “signature” . . . or what others would recognize her for. Here’s what she had to say . . .
Oh goodness! I always feel like this question is a bit of a bore when I answer because of making templates. The process is so different from kit designing. Almost all of the templates are based after my own pages so they are basically done the way I scrap. I start with a photo and design around it. I like to use papers and shapes as part of my design elements so you will always be able to see some of that. I like for my templates to be used for any kind of themed page so they are usually theme-less and just made to fit any kit a scrapper wants to use.
I think my signature style is my clusters and using just a touch of layering. I have a way of using JUST ENOUGH elements without it being tons or without it being considered minimal. Also the way I like to use paper as design elements. I don’t know if people recognize it or not, but it’s how I have scrapped and designed for years and years.
The wonderful thing about these templates is how truly versatile they are! You can use any kit with any theme, you can rotate it, flip it, or shrink it. Our Babes had so much fun with these templates (some of them couldn’t resist making multiple layouts). They really show off how versatile Crystal’s set is, and we hope their pages inspire you.
