Underwater Escape has been my most popular kit so far.  It’s been around for a while but I still love it as it reminds me of the beach.

I’d have to say Looking For Answers, my heart has a soft spot for this kit for sure.

Oh my word, it was so hard to narrow this down!!  I LOVE seeing what people do with my designs.  I ending up picking this LO by sugirox.  The thumbnail jumped out at me, it looks fabulous & the photos are so super CUTE!

What do you have in the works?

I feel like I’m still playing catch up from iNSD & my daughter’s birthday is in a few days so I don’t have a lot in progress, but this LO I made using my EZ Edges shows a peek of something that will be coming soon.

Do you have a favorite hybrid project you’ve seen made with one of your kits? Why do you love it?

First of all, I love seeing any hybrid projects with my designs!  I love to see the creativity when mixing media.  One of my favorites is this mini book by Heather.  I love how it’s all piled up with goodies and the colors are just awesome & vibrant!  I can never seem to pull off this kind of look so I’m totally envious!

I adore this LO by neeceebee, the colors are so perfect with her adorable photos and the placement of everything just rocks.

This LO by AJM just screams fun to me – from the fab photo to the bright colors, it’s just awesome.

This LO by taracotta 7 makes me smile.  I love that blended photo is the corner, it’s the perfect touch.

This LO by scrappurple is another that just makes me smile. I love the fun photos and the clean yet scattered look to the page.

What is your current bestseller?
In terms of numbers sold, ABC & 123 is my best selling kit.  Due to it’s popularity, it’s also been in the store longer than any other current kit.

What is the product you’re most proud of creating?

I love Black Pearl.  I made it for my sons 6th birthday and am thrilled with how it turned out (the kit and the birthday).

What is your favorite layout you’ve seen in the gallery created by a customer? 

I love seeing what people do with my Magazine Rack Templates.  This page by adrianka, looks like it did come straight off a magazine rack.

What do you have in the works?

What is your current bestseller?

My bestselling product is my RING RING template.  The funny thing is, I made this about a month after I started designing templates (September 2006!) I revamped it a bit when I released it here at SSD, but after almost seven years, it is still my best seller.

My Round the Corner and 10 Things I Love templates are not far behind.

What is the product you’re most proud of creating?

My goal in creating templates has always been to help scrappers. I love creating products that solve a particular scrapping problem or make something easier. So it is only natural that the products I am most proud of do that.  If I had to choose one, I would say I am most proud of my Birthday Book template set.  I think it creates a great way to document kid birthdays in a way that is fun but not too overwhelming. I think it is a book that any kid would love to have.

What is your favorite layout you’ve seen in the gallery created by a customer?

It’s hard to choose a favorite layout since the emotional attachemnet to layouts can mean more than the artwork itself.  However, as I cruised through the gallery, I was really drawn to this layout by Holly. It’s so fun and colorful!

What do you have in the works?

I am SO excited to finally share about a project I have been working on and is almost ready to release.  About four years ago I started dreaming about ways to teach digital scrapbooking.  Many of my friends wanted to learn and as much I have enjoyed teaching them and seeing them start their own scrapping journey, I knew I just didn’t have the time to devote to teaching everyone who asked.  So, I started planning to write a book that would teach scrappers.  Life got in the way and years later I was ready to start the project again, this time with a new method: videos! On May 1, right here at Sweet Shoppe Designs, I will be releasing a set of video tutorials that will take someone who has never even opened an editing program down a path of learning all they need to know to start digital scrapping. Over the last few months as I have worked on this project, I have become more and more excited about being able to share my love of scrapping with new scrappers. Scrapbooking has literally changed my life in so many ways and I am so excited for others to be able to learn and start preserving their own memories!  And as I told Robin, if my husband can learn to scrap by watching my videos, anyone can learn!

If you have ever had friends or family asking you about digital scrapping, starting May 1, you’ll  have an answer.  As wanna be scrappers “Watch Me Scrap” I will teach them everything they need to know to start creating beautiful memory-preserving layouts.

I don’t have a personal creative team so I have chosen some of my favorite pages from my talented customers and our amazing Sugarbabes.

SUPER MOON by Mamabee – I just ADORE this layout.  The awesome photos, the great use of papers and elements, and the cool title work.

IT’S A SMALL WORLD by YepBrook – It makes my heart happy to see my 2 MANY PHOTO templates being used in the way I planned them — as a means to take an event that you have lots of photos of (but don’t need an entire album for!) and get them on a page in a way that shows off the photos. Brook did an AMAZING job with this!

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE by Jacinda – I always adore Jacinda’s work and this layout is no exception. I love the bright and bold colors paired with the woodgrain background.  Beautiful!

12 MONTHS OF YOU by Amber1279 – I’m partial to this layout, again because it captures what I had in mind when I created my RING RING template.  I knew when I made it that the 12 photo spots would be perfect for capturing the first year of a baby’s life.

GRATEFUL by marlathrall – This is a beautiful layout.  I love how it shows off the beautiful papers in the kit whole still shining a spotlight on the photos.

PIRATE TUTORIAL by Liriel – This layout is just so cool! The use of papers and elements just makes it feel piratey (and yes, I made that word up!)

PINEWOOD DERBY by *Celeste* – This layout makes me smile! The bright colors with the clean and simple design makes my obsession with order and simplicity feel satisfied.

Do you have any products which you think are perfect for this month’s blog theme GET ORGANIZED?

Being organized is such an important part of life. I am far from being where I want to be, but I have made some progress, especially as it pertains to my scrapping.  I think that most of us have far more photos than we will ever be able to scrap, so we need to prioritize and combine when possible.  I have created a number of products that I believe help scrappers get their photos in order and into pages! I especially love my album template sets.  Creating an entire album — whether it be for a Year in Review, a vacation, or a baby book — can be intimidating.  My goal is to help scrappers not feel so overwhelmed.

CELEBRATE LIFE (A Project Life inspired template set, including planning pages)

EASY ALBUM ( A great mix and match template set that gives you 25 different page combinations). There is also a second version.

Wow there are so many favorites that it was tough to pick just one. Ultimately, I chose this layout by britaneejean called “tiny treasure” because I love the composition, the photo, the quiet and yet heart-melting overall message of this layout.

What do you have in the works?

Some more of my The Easy Life templates. They were a hit and I want to offer more of those templates because they are super fun to use and very popular with my customers. Do you have a favorite hybrid project you’ve seen made with one of your kits? Why do you love it?

Jacinda is one of the most talented scrappers there is and also one of the most talented hybrid artists out there. She made this and I will quote her description of it because this project was such a thoughtful, clever gift and thing to do. She says, “My 8 yr old dd had a sleepover at our place to celebrate her netball teams end of season results. We had 8 of her friends here, and yes it was total chaos. I got them to write something nice about each of their friends, then compiled the notes after they’d gone to bed. In the morning they got their own laminated card to take home, with all the lovely comments on it. They LOVED it.” I love it too! Grand idea for sure!

It would be the Yep, That’s Life Stamp Bundle. With Project Life being all the rage right now, these stamps have been selling really well as they’re not specific to time or place or month or day.

What is the product you’re most proud of creating?

I could say I love Mr. & Mrs. Claus the most, but if I’m really honest with myself, I love Lemonheads because *I* drew them. I haven’t an artsy bone in my body, and drawing fonts isn’t my forte’, but when I got the idea of the Lemonheads, I was so happy that it turned out the way it did, and use it all the time on personal projects. And when I see it used in commercial ventures, it’s a secret little squeeeeee for me!

I love this layout by Amanda. Not only is it brilliant in it’s design, the story is so poignantly honest about marriage that I admire.

Do I?!?!!? Make it personal!! Staying connected with your family through your memories is what I’m all about ! And how best to do that? Your own font. Seriously…even now, looking at my mother’s recipe cards makes me so happy to see her handwriting, and to remember, and I really wish I had something that I could add to our books from her to the boys. Our stories are written in my voice, thus my handwriting graces the pages of many of them, so the boys will be able to connect later in life, even if I’m not there. And how best to write in your children’s voices than with their handwriting. It’s always fun to see my son use his font on his papers for school work here!

I love the layout Bananas by Small Moments. She used my scoop with Heather, Beauty Blooms, but used it in a way to show how versatile the kit can be and that it’s not just used for girl pages. I love the use of circles and layering. This one really stood out to me in the gallery.

In the works you ask? lol. Let me grab my planner…Well I have a whole collection that centers around Project Life that is called Today 2.0 The Collection, and it will be released with the Featured kit so if you love the Kit be sure to grab the other awesome coordinating goodies. In the next few Weeks I have 2 Amazing Scoops Planned with Yari and Penny and another fabulous Triple Dip with Misty & Traci. Also on my list is to finally finish up my Dinosaur Kit I created while sewing my Son’s room bedding…frustrated with the lack of cute dinosaur bedding I pulled out my handy dandy illustrator skills and created him some really cute Dinosaurs for his room. My MIL sewed it on his bedding and I am so happy to have it done at last!

Happy New Year Sweet Shoppers! I am so excited for 2013 to be here because our team has been working hard to bring lots of new and improved features and services to the sweetest spot in town. From an inspiring monthly theme here on the blog, to scrumptious improvements that make participating in our challenges more fun than ever, 2013 promises to be a great year here at SSD!

One thing that’s staying the same is that we’ll be putting our designers into the spotlight twice a month so that you can grab an amazing kit for FREE when you spend $10 in the shoppe. We’ll be changing up the interview and spotlight just a bit in a couple of weeks, but we’re finishing off the current format with a designer who has been part of our team for ages!

How do you come up with the names for your products?

Usually the name comes from a phrase I want to use as a text strip or word art. I’m not so good with names, I tend to be too literal and not that creative when it comes to naming.

Do you scrapbook too or just design? If you scrapbook, share your favorite layout. If you don’t, do you wish you did?

I used to scrapbook a ton, but now I’m about 6 years behind! I was all caught up until I had the twins 8 years ago…then I started falling behind fast. I’d really like scrap more. One of my favorite pages is…

When you scrap, do you prefer to use your products or those from another designer?

Not sure I “prefer” it, but in reality I tend to use my own so I have an additional sample page for advertising and also because I’m lazy and it is easier to use one of my new kits than it is to search the store and download something else. But when something really strikes me and I have the perfect photo for it I’ll grab it!

What kind of colors do you naturally gravitate toward and can count on getting great results from when you work?

Brights! I’ve tried so many times to start with a subdued color palette and I almost always end up brightening up the colors before I’m even ¼ the way through designing the kit.

What’s your favorite thing about being a digital scrapbook designer?

So many, many things! I get to design what “I” want, what I’m excited about with the colors and themes I choose. My schedule is entirely flexible and with 3 young kids that is important. In addition I get to work from home!!

Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength?

Neither, I think it is healthy and sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself.

Is it possible to lie without saying a word?

Absolutely.

Which activities make you lose track of time?

I could read for days straight I think!

Never trying, but that is much easier said than done.

What is the most desirable trait another person can possess?

Open mindedness, being able to understand another’s opinion/stance/belief even if it doesn’t match your own.
