Hot 4 Hybrid – Pencil Party Favors

It’s Hybrid Babe Juli here with my first Babe blog post – woot!   It’s party season in my house right now and I have a thing for trying to make party favors that aren’t candy and that are something the kids can actually use.  This year, I came up with a cute little pencil wrap that is super easy and can be decorated to fit any party theme or holiday.

Supplies:

Sweet Tooth Digital Kit by Melissa Bennett
Center of My Universe Digial Kit by Shawna Clingerman

Cardstock
Double Stick tape
Trimmer
Ruler and scoring tool
Scissors
Pencils

Create the cardstock pencil holder
1. Use your paper trimmer to cut a piece of cardstock 2 inches wide x 11 inches long.
2. Score a line down the 11 inch side, 1/4 inch in from each side.
3. Rotate cardstock, score on the 2 inch side, 3.5 inches from the end of the strip. Score again at 4 inces away from strip.
4. Hold your cardstock as shown below, cut on the red lines.

5. Fold all scored lines towards the middle of the cardstock strip.
6. Use double stick tape to hold the sides of the box together.
7.  In your photo editting software create a 8.5 inch x 11 inch canvas.  For the decorative wrap, create a 4.5 inch by 3 inch rectangle.  Yoru main decorative focus needs to be in the middle of the rectangle and no wider than 1.5 inches wide.  For an extra nice touch, use a great alpha to add the child’s name.
8.  Print out decorative wrap and cut with a paper trimmer.
9.  Adhere the decorative wrap around the bottom of the pencil holder.  Tie ribbon around the holder and insert pencils.
