Friday Featured Scrapper – Majda

Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers!  I cannot believe that July has come and almost gone so quickly.  The last Friday Featured Scrapper is Majda Pomikalkova {pomi}.  Majda lives in the Czech Republic close to Prague with her husband, her daughters (3 years old and 1 year old) and her doggie.

Here is a bit more on how Majda got started scrapping.

I started digiscrapping after my first daughter was born in 2007. I have never really paperscrapped before, just did some travel journals of this kind. I started scrapping in Gimp and later I switched to Photoshop CS. In 2007 I also discovered SSD and it became my favorite place in digiworld and the only community I currently follow. I think the designers here are the best and their products are top quality. I’m happy to create for Kristin Cronin-Barrow and Eva Kipler. I use Nikon D40 for my pictures and I often use Sarah’s (M4H) photo actions on my photos for the layouts.

I asked Majda what her three favorite pages are:

Summer:

I’m a big fan of blocking design and just love how this one turned out, mainly because of the photo and the summery colors.

Good Times:

I love these photos of my girls and was so glad when I found KCB’s Sweet Caroline kit which went perfect with them. I love the light and warmth that shines from this page.

Pictures of November:

I love fall photos and colors and this is my favorite fall page.

Here are a few more questions I asked Majda about scrapbooking.

Q. Who are your scrap idols?

My scrap idols are many: Cindy, Lynnette, Kjersti to name just a few. 🙂

Q. What element could you not live without?

Elements I could not live without are probably flowers and/or stitching. I have one or both on almost every layout.

Q. What do you struggle with when scrapping?
I struggle with the lack of my technical abilities in PS most. I really need to improve them. 🙂 I also struggled with journaling because all of the beautiful fonts don’t have the characters and accents of my language, so I either had to create them manually from other characters or to journal in English (and with mistakes :)). Luckily, Darcy did some fonts that have all these characters lately and I love her for that. 🙂

Q. What’s usually going on when you scrap?
I usually scrap mid-day when my kids are napping or night when they’re in bed. In both cases I enjoy the silence around me and in the first case I’m praying that it last as long as possible. 🙂

Now onto the blog bonus challenge!

Blog Bonus Challenge #5 – It’s a Spin a Lift of Majda’s Gallery. Your challenge is to chose a layout from her gallery and give that layout a good spin to make it your own. You can spin it 45 or 90 degrees as well as flip it horizontal or vertical.  Just make it your own!  You have until tomorrow, July 31st, to complete this challenge.  Make sure you use SSD products when completing this challenge, upload it to your gallyer and make a note of this as Blog Bonus #5 in your July Portfolio.  **REMEMBER** You cannot combine any other Portfolio Challenge with this Blog Bonus Challenge. You CAN, however, combine this challenge with a New Release bonus point for a total of 2 points.
