365 Days of Bliss – A trip home for Thanksgiving

Hi Sweeties!  Libby here with today’s 365 post.  Can you believe Thanksgiving has passed, and we are now facing December and the Christmas season?  Where has this year gone?

This past week, I had the chance to go back home and visit my family for Thanksgiving.  When I moved to Kansas last year to be with my (now) husband Jeff, I left behind the area that I’d spent my entire life.  I’ve always been close to my family, so living 300 miles away and only getting to see them once or twice a year is not easy for me at all.  Thankfully, my sweet husband understands this, and he does everything he can to try to get us back home to see everyone whenever the opportunity arises.  This time around, being in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy, we realize that this will be the last trip home for a while, so we had to make the most of it!  Here are a few highlights:

– I ate WAY WAY WAY too much.  My sister is an awesome cook, and we actually had 2 Thanksgiving dinners while we were there.  When you add that to the baby shower food that we had on Saturday, let’s just say that I’m not looking forward to my weigh-in at the ob next week!

– I got to do a little Black Friday shopping with my daughter.  I’m NOT a shopper by nature, and I certainly don’t choose to get out on Black Friday.  This meant a lot to Gracie though, and I know with a little sister coming in the next couple of months, we won’t have very many opportunities for time like this.  So, while we didn’t brave any early morning craziness, we did get out to the mall and found a few good deals later in the day.

– Just about everyone in my family sings, so I was thrilled to get to go to church with my mom, sister, and brother-in-law and watch them sing some of my favorite gospel songs.  I even got up and sang a couple with them.  Jeff took video of this, but I can assure you I will NOT be posting youtube links for those.  😉

– My sister is incredible!  She actually hosted us a little baby shower while we were there.  It was so great chatting with family and just hanging out and eating her yummy food (cake pops = amazing). Jeff created a game for everyone where he melted a piece of a candy bar in 8 different diapers (made from a blanket).  It looked SO disgusting!  They then had to guess what kind of candy bar was in each diaper.  Goodness… seeing all these adults with their noses stuck in a diaper was just hilarious (granted, I’m pretty easily amused.  LOL).  We had a lot of laughs, and I was so happy to get to spend time with the people I love in celebration of our little Chloe Alexandria (who, incidentally, will be named after my sister Andria).

And finally, what would a blog post be without some pictures of the weekend?  Here are a couple of my favorites:

Finally, a belly shot!  28 weeks and 4 days here.  Getting closer!
