Summer Staycation

Hey Sweeties!! Meg here with today’s summertime staycation ideas post. If you are anything like me then you really enjoy a great vacation. I love to plan plan plan vacations to a T although I do leave a little free time to have a few spontaneous moments!

This summer, since we took a long vacation over the Christmas Holidays last year and are hopefully planning a trip for next spring, we decided to just hang out around home. I ran across a few fun blog posts on having fun in your town over the summer and I wanted to share. I don’t want my kid’s summer vacation to be boring so planning outings and finding things that we have never done around town has been quite fun! So far we are going to the Children’s Museum in a nearby town, Library Days, All the pools at the local parks (we have 8!!). I signed the kids up for free bowling over the summer and it’s been a lifesaver. We have also done a movies at the summer program at the local theater. Next week we are planning a hiking day in the mountains. We’ve been to the mountains a gazillion times since we’re only a short drive away but there’s plenty of trails and areas we haven’t explored. I find that when I get outside a little each week that my mood improves tenfold.

I’ve also found that trying something new or having an activity you’ve always wanted to try is fun to do in the summer. One of my kiddos is learning to dive this summer and my DH and I have been going to the shooting range. I’ve never really been a fan of that lifestyle but I have to admit I’ve been loving it! It’s brought out a little friendly competition and I thrive on that!

Here’s a fun blog that a group of moms created with various staycation ideas in different regions of the US. Hopefully something will spark some fun ideas for you and your family!

Whatever you do this summer make sure to take the time to document your memories and make something that you can look back on and reminisce for years to come!
