Hot 4 Hybrid – Paper Bag Album

Hello hello Sweet Shoppers! Better late than never right? Col here with the latest installment in scissors and glue. I thought that with the new monthly portfolio released yesterday, it might be helpful to pull out a few tutorials for the big 10 point project to help people out. I’ve made a few of these in the past, and they would be AWESOME for a rainy day with your kiddos this summer!

We took an unexpected trip to the beach over the holiday weekend, so I don’t have my own project to share with you just yet. Keep your eyes peeled in the hybrid section of the forums for a full on tutorial in the very near future! I did take some time today to wander around the web and pull out a few good tutorials and offer some tips from experience.

This tutorial is really good. It offers different options for binding, and I LOVE the idea of using those metal binder type things that you can find in an office supply store.

This one gives you the sizes of papers that you might need, as well as a great look at the pages of the book. You could easily adapt the layout and scraplift it to fit your needs. I like that there is lots of space for both photos, and journaling. Then you can use the pockets to hold memorabilia!

This one, over at the Scrappy Days blog, has lots of photos to get you started.  I love the coordinating pages, using double sided paper for the pages inside the pockets, and the idea of punching out the half circle to be able to grab at what’s in the pockets more easily.

Just 3 brown paper bags makes a great 6 page album, and you get a ton in the packages you can buy at the grocery store. You could bind up a whole bunch of them at once and then let your kids loose with paper and glue and crayons to make their own little albums. The possibilities are endless! 🙂

I hope this helps out anyone who is thinking of trying their hand at this project this month. I’ll be pulling my album together in the next week or so and will offer a full tutorial either in the forums, or on my blog, so keep your eyes peeled! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments section and I’ll try my best to answer them. Or you can shoot me a PM in the forums (ColleenSwerb).

Have a great month everyone, I can’t wait to see some of these projects in the gallery!
