Hot 4 Hybrid – The Missing Mojo Edition!

Hey hey sweet shoppers! Better late than never right? So sorry this post is so late today. I was playing with some new goodies coming out on saturday and it totally slipped my mind! I DO however, have some motivation for you when your mojo has run off to a Caribbean island and left you in the dust.

I still follow a lot of paper scrapping and stamping blogs, as they provide a constant source of inspiration to me. I’m always on the lookout for a way to translate something from the paper world, over to the digi world. One thing I’ve been seeing around the web, is the idea of working on little bits and pieces and stashing them away to use later when your mojo returns. Here’s a link to one example that I just love. So naturally, that got me thinking. How can I make that work for us? I wandered around the shop for a while, and it hit me. Element and shape templates! PERFECT!! Lauren has her ever fabulous “Layered Up In You” series, and the flowers, shapes, and edges set were just what I was looking for to play with. All you have to do is pick out a kit, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve got LOTS of gorgeous kits sitting in that “to scrap” folder on your EHD, waiting to be used. When I looked through my own folder, I found a perfect pairing for La’s Mixed Shape set in Dani’s “Flying High”. Fun colors, fun elements that can be printed on their own, and just plain FUN. Perfect for boy cards!

If girly cards are more your speed, La has a set of layered flowers too. Mix and match that with any of the fabulous girl kits in the store, and you’re good to go! I think I’ll pair these up with Melissa’s “Bee Happy” kit for some fun flowers to stick on some cards or layouts. That tree is just too cute and MUST be printed out on it’s own to be the star of the show on a card!

So what do you think? There are TONS of shape templates available in the shop, and I think we all know that the goodness overflows when it comes to fabulous kits. So give it a spin! Pick out a fun kit, and get some elements printed up. You can resize them so that they are proportional for whatever size card you like to create (I tend to stick to 4.25″x5.5″ or 5″x7″ myself) and then just clip papers to the layers, print, cut, and done! If your mojo is still missing after that, try printing out a few squares or rectangles of paper from the matching kit, so that later you’re 100% ready to just cut some papers up and glue them onto a card! I’m going to go and do this RIGHT NOW, and I’ll edit this post soon to show you what I made.

I hope you pulled some inspiration from this late little post. If you did, give it a shot and link us up in the comments!

Until next time….

~Colleen

  • THanks for the idea, Colleen. You’ve got those rusty brain gears of mine ticking over on this one…
