Happy Anniversary to me!

Our anniversary is tomorrow.  Every year it kinda strikes me like a slap in the face.  How is it possible I have been married to this man for NINE years?  Me.  The girl who didn’t want to be tied down to any one person, the girl who didn’t want to be a stay at home mom, the girl who wasn’t even sure she wanted kids…how is it I’ve become this person?  All that being said, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  My husband and I aren’t your typical couple.  We aren’t into all that lovey-dovey stuff.  Sure, we DO love each other, and we hold hands, and we kiss each other goodbye, but, we don’t sleep all cuddled up, we don’t just randomly do romantic things, and well, we make fun of each other more often than not.  We don’t fight (often), and well, we compliment each other in the most perfect way.  He is the complete opposite of me in so many ways and I think that that’s what makes us so perfect.

Anywho, all of this reflecting got me wondering, what do you do for your anniversary to make the day special?  We aren’t doing anything special tonight because it’s a weeknight and between the kids having school in the morning and DH and I both having to get up, we just aren’t going to make a big to do.  He is going hunting this weekend (happy anniversary to ME) and well, the girls and I will probably be lazy.  So…what do you do?

  • Happy Anniversary!! Sounds like you two have it worked out. We will be married 49 years two days after Christmas. Wow, that’s a long time!!! Since our anniversary is right after Christmas we don’t really do anything special. We do go out to dinner usually with our DD, her DH and our two sweet granddaughters.

Jim and I tease each other all the time and make each other laugh every single day, many times a day. We both love to read, he’s into Ham radio and we’re both retired. We take road trips to KY to visit our son and out to CA to visit our families. After 49 years of marriage, I’d say we get along quite well!!!
