Spotlight Sunday- Jennifer Merkley (Community Member Edition)

ss-header-2014

This week we’re spotlighting Jennifer!

Selfies (1)

Selfies: I take a ton of selfies, so these are just a few of my favorites from the last 6 months. Army Ball 2014, Date night at the food trucks with my husband, refusing to take myself seriously, and Easter Dinner 2014.

Layouts

Layouts: I stuck with my favorites from 2014, and here are my reasons why I chose each one.

Family Tree- I love the simplicity of this, and the story it tells with minimal pictures and words.

Baby Selfies- I rarely get home to see family, and on a quick trip I was able to spend time with part of my family celebrating my niece’s first birthday. This one just has such fun memories tied to it that I can’t help but love it.

Summer Nights- We have had a crazy year here in El Paso, and I’m trying to focus on the good things. I love the gorgeous sunsets we get here and this reminds me to go enjoy the view while we have it.

Embrace Different- I love to tell stories without photos. Some of the biggest life lessons I have learned and want to pass on don’t have photos, so this is one of the ways I can make sure they are remembered.

Products

SSD Products:

Choosing just four favorite products is a form of torture. I love so many things from SSD after all of my years shopping here that I just chose four of my most recent used items.

A Little Bit of Sparkle by Zoe Pearn- I am currently obsessed with gold, pink, and navy, so Zoe hit all my faves with this kit!

Border Basics by Libby Pritchett- I bought all of these stitches the week they came out, and I still use them almost every week on layouts. They are so versatile and useful, I always recommend them as a necessary item in every scrapper’s toolbox.

Ombre Glitter Alphabet by Traci Reed- I love how realistic these are and how much depth they add to the page. The ombre adds just a little punch of something awesome to really make them stand out for title work.

Great Outdoors: Explore by Kristin Cronin-Barrow- I love all the kits in this series, but this one is my current favorite because of all the great textures and colors in the papers. It’s so versatile for both outdoors pics and non theme pics!

TV shows

TV Addictions:

I am a tv junkie. My husband and I both collect our favorite series on DVD and are always looking for new shows to watch. I usually have something on in the background while I cook, scrap, clean, or right now pack- as we are moving house shortly. Here are some of the ones I am watching/rewatching this summer.

Eureka– We fell in love with this quirky show years ago, loving the science and the humor. There are so many lines we continue to quote even now that it is off the air.

24– I am so behind the times, but I just started watching 24 last week when I found it available on one of the streaming services we subscribe to. Everyone has told me for years how good it is, but I avoided it for fear of being disappointed by the hype. I was hooked after one episode and now I can’t stop watching it (it might just be on while I type this up).

Warehouse 13– We got hooked on this series while watching Eureka, as they were on the same channel and aired back to back. The history, quirky characters, and hints of mystery keep us rewatching the entire series every year or so.

NCIS– I only started watching NCIS just over a year ago, but I spent all last summer catching up on the entire series. Tuesdaynights are sacred tv nights at my house, because it means new episodes of NCIS and NCIS:Los Angeles. I’m super excited for the new spinoff to premiere this fall!

apps

iPhone Apps:

I am such an app junkie, but these four apps are used daily to either waste time, or document life!

Instagram: I love love love instagram. I post pics almost daily and love the ability to have just little glimpses of life. I pull these photos quite often for my project life spreads and for my regular layouts. The latest update allowing custom editing has made me even happier, as I can get that edit perfect without using a different program first.

Timehop: As a scrapbooker, I love to look back on what was happening in years past, because it helps me remember all the traditions we have and make sure we are documenting memories. I love seeing every day what I was doing 1,2, 3 and even further years in the past.

Collect: I’ve always struggled with daily documentation and am great at taking a bunch of photos in a week, but I would miss a lot of the daily highlights. I love that Collect reminds me every day to take a photo, and now I am almost 8 months in to daily shots with a few words to document each one.

2048: This app makes my brain hurt, but I can’t stop playing. I am obsessed with getting to the 2048 tile. This is my go to game when I am stuck in waiting rooms, the line at the grocery store, etc. I WILL get that tile someday!

Don’t forget to check back in with us next Sunday and every Sunday after that as we put the rest of our incredible Babes and community members into the spotlight. Each of them have such quirky personalities that I’m positive each week will bring new surprises and special treats that we can’t wait to share with you!
